The Benefits of Volunteering

Every day, we can see the figures of thevolunteers. Actually, they have formed a kind of scenery of the city. Somepeople hold that volunteering is merely a waste of time, because the volunteershave no gains with pains. However, I believe that doing voluntary is quiterewarding.

每天，我們都能看到許多的志愿者，事實上，他們已經成為城市的一道風景線了。有些人認為做志愿者就是單純地浪費時間，因為做志愿者是只有付出沒有回報的。然而，我相信做志愿者還是有一定回報的。

In the first place, we can put intopractice what we have learnt before, for instance, when we were asked by aforeigner about the way to some place, we could practice our oral foreignlanguage, it’s definitely a good opportunity to express ourselves in a foreignlanguage correctly and clearly.

首先，我們可以把以前學過的東西付諸實踐。例如，如果外國人向我們問路，我們就能練習口語，這肯定是一個用外語清楚地自我表達的好機會。

In the second place, we could make a lot ofnew friends while we are volunteering As a proverb says, “At home one relies onone’s parents and outside on one’s friends”, so it is never a bad thing to havelots of friends.

Finally, helping others is a good way tomake you feel happy and when you help others solve a problem successful, youwill feel fulfillment. In this sense, we reap a bountiful spiritual harvest bydoing voluntary work.

On the whole, we can benefit a lot byengaging ourselves in the voluntary work. Therefore, I suggest those that haveabundant spare time registering as volunteers for the welfare for the public.
