School Choice? Look before You Leap

Parents now pay more and more attention to theirchildren’s education. So these days, selecting a so-called key school forchildren has become a common desire of parents and some high-priced schoolshave come into being accordingly. This phenomenon has its own background. Forschools, which are suffering from a lack of funds, enrolling students at highfees is no doubt an effective way to collect money. Parents, on the other hand,who wish to seek a guarantee of their children getting into a key university inthe future, have no hesitation in paying high prices for schools withhigh-quality teachers and advanced teaching equipment.

現(xiàn)在家長們越來越關(guān)注孩子們的教育。因此，為孩子選擇所謂的重點學(xué)校已經(jīng)成為這些日子家長們的共同愿望；同時，一些高價學(xué)校也相應(yīng)形成。這一現(xiàn)象有它自己的背景。對于正經(jīng)歷著資金短缺的學(xué)校來說高收費招收學(xué)生無疑是收集資金的有效方式。另一方面，對于想要確保他們的孩子將來能夠進入重點大學(xué)的家長來說，他們會毫不猶豫地給擁有一流師資和先進教學(xué)設(shè)備的學(xué)校支付昂貴的費用。

But facts have proved that sending children to afamous school at great expense is not always a wise choice. The real victimsare sometimes the children themselves. When children transfer to a new and abetter school, they usually find it hard to adapt to the new environment andadjust them in a short period of time. Seeing other students far ahead them,they feel great pressure from all sides. They are always worrying about theirstudy and relationship with strangers. And, worse still, it is not easy forthem to catch up with those top students in the class.

但是，事實已經(jīng)證明，花昂貴的費用把孩子送到名校并非總是明智的選擇。真正的受害者有時候恰恰是孩子本身。當孩子們轉(zhuǎn)到一個新的更好的學(xué)校時，他們常常會發(fā)覺很難在短時間內(nèi)去適應(yīng)新的環(huán)境�？吹狡渌�同學(xué)遠遠趕在他們前面，他們會感覺到來自各方面的巨大壓力。他們總是擔心他們的學(xué)習(xí)以及與陌生同學(xué)之間的關(guān)系。而且更糟的是，趕上班上的那些尖子生對他們來實屬不易。

Personally, the practice might also send children awrong message that money can buy everything. As a result, some might not studyhard though in a better environment. In fact, the government has stipulatedthat children should go to appointed schools near their homes. Transferring schoolswill greatly disorder the normal teaching order. Even, it is disturbing that sucha practice will damage the justice of society in the long run.

就我個人而言，這一事實也可能會給孩子灌輸金錢能夠買來一切的錯誤觀念。其結(jié)果是，雖然在更好的環(huán)境一些孩子可能會不用功讀書。事實上，政府已經(jīng)規(guī)定孩子們應(yīng)該到附近制定的學(xué)校就讀。轉(zhuǎn)學(xué)將會嚴重影響正常的教學(xué)秩序。甚至，從長遠看來它是令人擔憂的，因為這種做法會損害社會的公正。
